(Star Wars d6) #13 - Learning Botajef Customs

Our "Heroes"
Ne'vets Aharo - an exotic animal broker, both legal and otherwise
Evus - Twi'lek former mercenary, Ne'vets' armed muscle with a tendency to shoot first.
Tarrie - Human pilot "under contract" for the upcoming mission, whatever that is.
Frokazza -Wookie co-pilot, mechanic, and unarmed muscle. Very distrustful.

Botajef Arriving!
After a night of revelry aboard the
Imperial Star Destroyer Iron Fist
Our heroes are offered employment
In the less-violent wings of the Empire
But awaiting confirmation on those
Leads, it is proper time to re-equip,
Make contacts with old allies
(or friendly rivals)
and set foot upon the solid, urban ground
of the planet Botajef

After a good night's sleep, the crew awoke to a military-style breakfast and a few more hours aboard the Iron Fist before they could be shuttled to Botajef.  While the other procured the necessary weapons and equipment that Captain Zsinj had promised, Ne'vets waited until the Star Destroyer left Hyperspace and made a sub-space call to his contact and supposed ally, Abel Norrum.

"You've reached Abel Norrum, wilderness guide and scout..."

"Hey buddy, it's Ne'vets."

"Ne'vets, you're alive?  what the hell mate, where have you been?"

"It's a long story."

"We spotted you two days on that safari job on Hijano man.  Two days!.  The people paying for the trip were no very happy."

"Sorry man, we got shot out of the sky by pirates and crash landed..."

"Dude, that's kriffing awesome!    Where are you calling from?"

"A Star Destroyer"

"What the kriff man!!!!

"I'll tell you the details over a couple MoonPie Ales..."

"MoonPie Ales,  you know right to a man's heart.  You're a plucky bastard...."

Ne'vets and Abel reconnected and arranged a potential pick-up at Botejef in a few days, reminisced about Ne'vets' old Mon Calamari pilot with the missing thumb, Synbad "Nubbsy" Shakille, how leasing ships was a financial conspiracy started by the Jawas, and a story involving Ne'vets sitting on a giant poisonous spider.

In the end, Abel advised Ne'vets to his group to good lodging, a clean nightclub, and look out a dealer of "Small A-9 transports.."

Freaking Jawas....

Meanwhile, Evus was striking up a conversation with an appropriately racist Imperial recruiter for the academy.  Obviously the Twi'lek was never going to get recruited, but he managed to get various planets with non-military Imperial activity (Myrkrr,  Mandalore, Phindar, and San), and a few non-military contacts in other corps that might have use of aliens (Hotten Zaker,  Jorge Cardoss, and the Klatooinian Vestock Levell.

"Thanks for the tips, but I've already talked to Captain Zsinj about those folks...."  Not true, but he had information to research later.

About an hour later, other Imperial officers advised them the shuttle to transport them to Botajef.

Botajef, starport at the nexus of two major Hyperspace route, was under Imperial jurisdiction, but any Imps on planet were merely administrative.   The only Stormtroopers on the ground would be the ones escorting them off the shuttle. Within an hour, they would finally be in the clear and back to proper civilization.

The shuttle set down safely on the landing pad, with the ramp dropping, our group disembarked and headed to the customs office.

After a bit of a walk, they reached customs, all the staff wearing some whit-grey smocks, yellow piping, and ridiculous hats.  A sharp contrast from the operations of the Iron Fist.

Ne'vets turned their new paperwork from Captain Zsinj and the customs agent scanned everything, and then asked them to have a seat.

The only discussion Ne'vets could hear was incredulous.

"They came off an Imperial Shuttle!  How can there be a problem???"

Within minutes, two armed agents requested the group move to conference room.

A few minutes, a lone woman entered the room.  With a finely pressed uniform, and an air of respect, she obviously ran this operation on Botajef.

"Mr Aharo, Hello.  I'm Superintendent Anna Fisko, Imperial Customs.  I've heard you four have an interesting story.  But I can confirm with a transmission to Coruscant, that your paperwork, particularly your weapons are out of order.  All of them are confiscated weapons of the rebels that were recently lost from inventory."
Superintendent Fisko
Ne'vets suggested there were numerous avenues to rectify the situation, but Fikso only spoke of jail sentences, confiscation, and in a final odd context, their ability to use the weapons.

"We certainly don't have military-like knowledge....."

An explosion rocked the outside of the of the customs building.  Seconds later, the power went out, and a few moments later red emergency came on.

"It's a shame you're mere amateurs, we may need those services if we're supposed to survive."
