Project 350 Breakdown

I believe the only person interested in this post is me, but since I mention it every time I post new minis on Fridays, I guess I want this public... or perhaps it's just a cry for help.

Way back in 2018, I lamented that I had made over 2300 posts on the blog, but I had a backlog of Scheduled posts and ideas and projects hiding in my Drafts folder.   Back then I vowed to transform this glut of posts hiding behind-the-scenes into published posts.

Oh how naive I was...

In 2018, I was complaining about 287 drafts and 81 scheduled posts, 368 in total.  "Project 350" was my goal to work those scenarios and project ideas down below 350 total, and maybe even less.

Fast Forward to 2025.

Over 5,100 posts and my backlog is 471 (295 drafts and 176 scheduled posts).

I've never actually broken down what's clogging up by ideas and projects until I hand counted today.

DRAFTS

  • Pulp Scenarios (57) - With the success of the "Egypt" Campaign, I accumulated these like trendy women buy Stanleys.    Since Season 4 is on perpetual hiatus until I solve my "Missing Zulu Left Arm" problem), this stays bloated for a bit.  To complicate matters, Season 4 is largely a published campaign, so I might knock out 4 or 5 of these in the build-up
  • Fantasy Scenarios (46) - This one is surprising, but between all the skirmish games, plus mousling friendly games, I'm not totally surprised.
  • Contemptible Little Armies  (42) - This could be consider my pipe dream gone awry.  From my Samoa game, to Great War Africa, to Back of Beyond, these are scenarios I would need to acquire more units for, and you know how fast I paint up units, much less acquire them. The good news is the Great War Africa stuff is actually put in order from smallest required figures to largest, allowing a schedule to buy them.
  • Role-Playing Games (41) -  Future gazetteer entries, placeholders for campaign APs, and even a few advanced prep community events.
  • Gnome Wars Scenarios (32) - Not a surprise, but I do need to knock out the smaller games.  I have the entirety of Orcs in the Webbe to convert from Flintloque after this...
  • Painting (12) - Surprising, only a few items, mostly "large projects" I actually have on the summer agenda.
  • Game Day Art (14) - Artwork and memes fitting for certain occasions.  I'm at zero new Gnome Art, by the way.
  • Sci-Fi Scenarios (13)
  • Reference (6) - While I usually keep reference stuff as drafts on my Blogger pages (same but different), I keep a few items pinned for reference, specifically things like my Gamma World campaign notes and a list of my Gaming with the Gnomies annual award winners.
  • Miscellaneous (22)

SCHEDULED

  • Holidays  (126)  - The easiest of placeholders, as someone who loves to post something everyday, not for views, not for monetization, but rather, "just because," anything appropriate for the blog gets scheduled for the future, and for some, it's the far future.
    • Star Wars Day (22) - Yes, I have an amusing, unique Star Wars post set up on May 4th for the next 22 years!!!!
    • Yule (15)
    • Easter (14)
    • Christmas Eve (12)
    • April Fool's Day (11)
    • First Day of Winter (11)
    • New Year's (10)
    • Christmas (8)
    • Valentine's Day (5)
    • Father's Day (3)
    • Thanksgiving (3)
    • All other holidays (12)
Well that's embarrassing.  If I didn't do the holiday placeholders, my Project 350 number would be.... 348. Obviously, I did it to myself.
  • Gamma World Actual Plays (29)
  • #CharacterCreationChallenge (7) - A head start to next year .
  • Georic Gazetteers (7)
  • Miscellaneous (6)
  • Painting (2)

It's pretty obvious that, unless fun memes and classic gnome/Tomte artwork runs dry, I'll always have 100+ scheduled posts on the books in perpetuity.
