Final Sale at Battle Valor Games Before a Long Hiatus

Almost missed the announcement of the holiday sale over at Battle Valor Games.  I wish I had missed the reasons for it.

Battle Valor, the manufacturer a large range of 25 and 15 mm figures, has a massive 40% everything  sale going on right now.  I love Battle Valor to death, as they been a major supplier to my Gnomish Space Marines, as well as a host of other figures.

And know, the reason for the sale, directly off the web site:

40% OFF EVERYTHING UNTIL MIDNIGHT ON DECEMBER 13TH.

ALL ORDERS WILL GET A FREE 28MM SANTA FIGURE!

Spend $150 or more and get 2 packs of figures for FREE worth up to $15 each.

Spend $225 or more and get 4 packs of figures for FREE worth up to $15 each.

Spend $350 or more and get 7 packs of figures worth up to $15 each.

OFFERS DO NOT STACK!
USA orders of $75 or more will ship for FREE!
International Orders will ship for a FLAT RATE of $32

Without getting into a very long explanation, my current work and family time constraints and commitments are making it impossible for me to run the business on a day to day basis and create the new product I want to.
Being a one man show is not easy!

I have taken the decision to shut down for a couple of years to give myself some time to rewrite some rules and sculpt some new armies and figures.

I might even get to do some hobbying for a change.

When the Holiday Events ends on December 13th I will shut down, so this is your last chance to buy the Battle Valor 15mm and 28mm ranges.

I will do my best to ship all orders before Christmas.
The earlier you get them in the better!

Kickstarters
I will spend January, February and March shipping out the remaining KS stuff to those few owed stuff.

Thanks for all your support, will be back in 2029 all being well, and if the World is still standing

Have a great Holiday Season!

It has been a rough year for the those miniature makers I label a step above "Garage Hobbyists"  metal costs, shipping, internet morons, and the fact that either real employment is still required, or their age is catching up to them, I've seen too many companies shuttering, or planning on shuttering their doors in 2027.  Don't know if I can put together a final order before shutdown, but by golly, I'll try.

(Kickstarter) Space Dwarves Commissars by Macrocosm Miniatures

Macrocosm has rebounded quickly from their last Kickstarter and launched a small, quick one:  Space Dwarves Commissars!, 28mm resin dwarves.

Not particularly my jam, but the Triad reward is £20 for all 3 Commissars.

(Kickstarter) Space Dwarves (Miscellany?) by Macrocosm Miniatures

After 37 other Kickstarters, the good folks at Macrocosm kept things oddly simple for their latest Kickstarter, Space Dwarves.

Two leaders, two mourning space dwarves with a tombstone, and a random mercenary dwarf.

It's not the most affordable campaign, and after years of eating the Royal Mail costs, they've finally upped the shipping from the UK.  I'll still bite.

Brigade Games Sci-Fi Releases

I know Historicon is going to be extremely tight this year, but god knows Brigade Games is going to the top of my potential want list with their new sci-fi figs.

BG-SFW007  - Space Base Tactical Assault Team B (3) - BG-SFW007  $9.00 USD

... and while I'm not the demographic for Space Apes, the heavy sci-fi weaponry is bulky perfection.

BG-SFW202 Space Ape Troopers (6) - BG-SFW202   $18.00 USD

(Kickstarter) Space Dwarves Auto Rifles 2nd Squad by Macrocosm

I've already sung the praises of Macrocosm through their webstore, they go out and start up yet another one of their efficient Kickstarters.

Space Dwarves Auto Rifles 2nd Squad by Macrocosm is simply six more resin figures to augment my Gnomish Space Mar... er... your sci-fi army of choice.

As I always mention, Macrocosm is my favorite, perhaps only, manufacturer I trust from that side of the pond.  Large or small, I have a great track record getting my rewards safely to Pennsylvania.

Space Dwarf Servo Unit by Macrocosm Miniatures

After completing the Mos Eisley Cantina set, my thoughts have been focused to a number of smaller projects, most notably the  fun little Monsters and Hunters set from Macrocosm Miniatures' last Kickstarter.

I love Macrocosm, I've participated in at least nine of their Kickstarters.  The figures are fantastic, and in the last decade of total chaos of shipping in-country and around the world, they have always been fast and reliable, surpassing even some companies here in the States.

I've been waiting patiently for the next Kickstarter, but then they turned around and announced new figures right onto their website.

Who knew this was even possible?

The Space Dwarf Servo Unit are three of the cheeky little buggers in full armor suits, with a variation on the arms.

Space Dwarf Servo 3

Space Dwarf Servo #2

Space Dwarf Servo #1

The set of three is £12.00 (roughly $16.00) with individuals for $4 ($5.33). Of course, shipping via Royal Mail is abysmal, so I'll need to see how my Historicon funds are before placing a larger order, but I will know I'll get everything fast.

The Mike Lung Gallery #92 - Fear of a Cheese Planet

Friend of the Blog and AWARD WINNING GM Mike Lung has returned to some interesting projects, a possible return to the Cheese Planet!

He's dove into kitbashing and modeling sci-fi figures who could fit on my Death Planet Iota, but would have far more fun on a mousling mining colony.

He's also gone down the rabbit hole of re-basing his figures with clear bases, so they fit well in forest, plains, deserts, and even cheese planets.

Historicon 2027?   It's a possibility!

(Kickstarter) Monsters and Hunters by Macrocosm Miniatures

Another quick and fun Kickstarter by Macrocosm, Monsters and Hunters is a small collection of monsters and some sci-fi hunters to track them down.

Monsters

I went with the complete bundle with 2 monsters, 2 hunters, and a swarm, with shipping across the pond, it will be roughly US$35 with shipping across the pond.

Hunters

With delivery scheduled for April (and Macrocosm is great on their delivery dates), these might kick-off a continuation of our Death Planet Iota Fistful of Lead game.

Swarm

(Painting) Dinks (Vellori Cult) from Battle Valor Games

I've previously painted up some the "Vellori Cult" Troopers from Battle Valor in the style of a somewhat popular movie franchise.  I realized during the process that the figures bear a closer resemblance to the Dinkfrom Spaceballs!

Queue some Deco Art Rich Espresso Metallic Paint, and I didn't have to break out glitter....

SCI-FI 36B Aliens "Vellori Cult" Troopers

Now, how they got from the moon of Vega to Death Planet Iota is anyone's guess....

In the Queue - Mummies, Teddy Bears, and a full cantina of characters I'll paint and present collectively.

Project: 350 - Post #CharacterCreationChallenge swelling, up to 451 (284/167)  from 439 (283/156).  I finally added some holiday filler, a few entries into next year's #CCC.

(Kickstarter) Space Dwarves Auto Rifles by Macrocosm

Macrocosm's Space Dwarves line increases by a few figures with a small Kickstarter for six Space Dwarves Auto Rifles.

Minis are done in resin.  First pledge set is about $25 for a squad, $61 for three squads, withe extra squads added on for $21 or so.

Shipping is not included until afterwards, and it is from the UK, but as a customer in America, they are my favorite international shipper.

(Star Wars d6) Kivren Taal - Twi'lek Gambler #CharacterCreationChallenge

Day 6 of the #CharacterCreationChallenge , and we're going to continue statting out some of the individual figures I've painted up over the last year.

Kivren Taal - Twi'lek Gambler

Species: Twi'lek

Character Type: Gambler

DEXTERITY: 3D+2

KNOWLEDGE: 3D

• Bureaucracy 4D
• Streetwise 4D
• Value 4D

MECHANICAL: 2D+1

PERCEPTION: 4D

• Con   5D
• Forgery  5D
• Gambling 6D

STRENGTH: 2D+2

TECHNICAL: 2D+1

Special Abilities (Twi'lek):

Head-tails: Twi'leks can use their head-tails to communicate in secret with each other, even if in a room full of others. The complex movement of the tails is, in a sense, a "secret" language that all Twi'leks are fluent in.

Equipment:

Personal Comm, week's worth of expensive clothes, datapad, 1,000 credits

The life of a gambler usually ends at the wrong end of a knife or a blaster, rarely are they staring down a cocktail on a pleasure planet.

For Kivren, his talents at the sabacc table, as well as two dozen others, was good enough to attract the eyes of the casino owners, but never the muscle... until it did.  Pulled into the backroom, expecting the worse, Kivren was given a proposition:  you can take your gradual winnings for a year and then be asked to leave, or the casino would simply pay him as an administrator, day-to-day management, but also catching cheats, and knowing when to apply muscle.   The Twi'lek has never looked back, but if there was an unfortunate turnover within the crime bosses, and he was kicked out, Kivren would be wholly unprepared for the real galaxy.

Force Points: 1

(Kickstarter) Space Amazons by Red Bard Games

Want classic-styled sci-fi minis and break the Imperial Guard patriarchy.

You can start with Space Amazons, now on Kickstarter from Red Bard Games.

(Painting) More Power Generators for Death Planet Iota

These last few weeks of 2025 are a scramble to just get out as much miscellaneous stuff as possible.  While there are a bunch of Christmas figures and loose gnomes desiring my attention, the junk hoarder in me has had two containers balancing precariously on the top rack of my paint, and it was fine time to get another building for the town of Carf for Death Planet Iota.

Jayne and a Killer Rabbit.

Just a few layers of drybrushing, and some metal and rust around the crinkle zones.

I'm slightly proud of myself, as the radar/tech pieces on top are part of the miscellaneous pile of stuff I grabbed at the Mepacon auction.    That other pieces came from a bag of pieces/debris I snagged up cheaply from Historicon a few years back.

Potters Independent Space Traders P.I.S.T.

In this crazy, messed-up world, it's still nice to find new blogs popping up that are sparking my interest.

Potters Independent Space Traders P.I.S.T. is predominantly a 15mm sci-fi blog, but it has that same fun, gritty feel that's right down my alley. Check them out!

(Kickstarter) Space Dwarves Predators 'Hunter And Hunted

Macrocosm is at it again with another wave of Space Dwarves, paying homage to to a fantastic 80's movie with Space Dwarves Predators 'Hunter And Hunted

For us American folks, early bird pledges for the whole set are $54, and $60 when those are filled.  Of all the British companies I frequent, I've never had a issue with delivery, be it product or physical shipping from the UK, so I can heartily recommend these...

Bill Making Stuff

First off a shout out to Quantrill's Toy Soldiers for posting the link to Bill Making Stuff  and sending me down this rabbit hole.

Bill Making Stuff is a YouTube channel dedicated to him downplaying his clever genius with spare parts, trash, and a host of Dollar/Pound Store or thrift store toy finds.  I've been working through his videos backwards and absolutely adore his creations, and tying them into his personal world, the Gutterlands, a new source of inspiration for my own Death Planet Iota.

Satyr Art Studios Space Dwarves

I'm not sure how I haven't mentioned Satyr Art Studios.  Most of their sculpts are perfect Oldhammer Fantasy, but they do have a nice range of sci-fi stuff especially some fantastic Space Dwarves.

And where else are we going to find them flying around on jet-powered hoverboards that look this good?

(Kickstarter) Evil Space Dwarves 2

Macrocosm magically appeared with another Kickstarter this week: Evil Space Dwarves 2!

I needed to look back for Evil Space Dwarves 1.  It was during this past May, right when everything went to hell for me, and I needed to cancel my pledge.  Here's hoping I can scrounge up something to keep me up to speed with Macrocosm releases.

This wave includes, snipers, stormtroopers, and heavy weapons troops, as well as the original wave one Evil Space Dwarves being available as well.

My only worry, especially with the chaos of the past nine months?   Shipping, et al.  It is a Macrocosm order, and they are my favorite UK company because I've never had any surprises in any facet of any previous campaign, even after all these years.

Exogenesis from Pulp Figures

It's been a hot minute since I've needed to order something from Bob Murch at Pulp Figures, probably as I looking for the 2024 Movember figure.

There's a number of updates to the website, but what caught my eye were the Pulp Sci-Fi Exogenesis figures.

Great Pulp sculpts, plus you can get all seven Exogenesis packs for the price of five!

In my perusal, I also discovered Melanesian Mud-Men, as well as replacement weapons packs for the other South Seas figures.

Thankfully, the packs are still a reasonable $18US , plus the awesome free pack/shipping program is still in effect.

Order five packs, and get the sixth pack FREE. Every four packs after that earns you another FREE pack. Surface mail shipping is free for orders of 9+ packs, worldwide.
