Potters Independent Space Traders P.I.S.T.

In this crazy, messed-up world, it's still nice to find new blogs popping up that are sparking my interest.

Potters Independent Space Traders P.I.S.T. is predominantly a 15mm sci-fi blog, but it has that same fun, gritty feel that's right down my alley. Check them out!

Laserburn Rules Back in Stock at Alternative Armies

I'm not a huge fan of Alternative Armies leaving their blog and submitting news on their own website, but I am delighted that Alternative Armies News does appear on my Google Blog Reading List.

Good news, though!  Paperback hardcopies of the classic Laserburn rules, as well as  Advanced Laserburn, and Imperial Commander are finally back in stock, as well as a host of the original "true" 15mm sci-fi minis.

I'm of the age that, with full hindsight and proper mail ordering, Laserburn would be my initial choice in rules, and figures.

Battle Valor Games 40% Off Christmas Sale

The formal website for Battle Valor Games might be down for some long-term, much-needed renovation, but their eBay store is still open, and they're currently offering 40% off their 28mm and 15mm lines through December 24th!

I'm not at the point of large gaming purchases,  but at 40% off, it won't be a "large" gaming purchase.

Battle Valor Games Easter Sale

For the first time in over a decade, I'm behind on filing our taxes.  Usually everything is submitted by the first week of February and the refund was in my bank account (and spent at Cold Wars).

This year, the filing deadline for Federal returns was pushed back to April 18th, which ironically coincides with Battle Valor Games Easter Event.

Battle Valor is offering 25% OFF ALL 15MM & 28MM codes until Monday April 18th at Midnight.

This is on top of any discount those with a Battle Valor account already have.

In Addition

All Orders of $75 or more will receive a FREE pack of figures of your choice worth up to $20.

All Orders of $150 or more will receive 2 FREE packs of figures worth up to $20 each.

All Orders of $225 will receive 4 FREE packs of figures worth up to $20 each.

Offers do not Stack

FREE Shipping on International Orders of $200 or more!

I'm still building out troop lists for the Gnomish Space Marines, to figure out what figures I need to dive back into larger painting projects.  Once I finish these taxes, I might be able to get an order in by next Monday.

(Painting) Mystery 15mm Mouse

Rebooting my painting queue continues to move slowly.  There area handful of projects seeing progress, a formal announcement regarding my pulp campaign coming shortly, and one tiny figure finally completed.

I honestly don't know where this 15mm mouse guy came from.  It might have been from an HMGS convention paint and take, it might have come from a flea market, it may have been a weird Kickstarter free stretch goal.  It's sculpt and slotted base mean it's not from Splintered Light's line, it's not Battle Valor, and there's nothing similar to it on Old School Miniatures website.  It's an odd and adorable enigma.  Any help identifying this figure would be appreciated.

Still not sure how I feel about 15mm Fantasy.  It's been nice to gather my painting senses, purge some brushes and paints that were bad and get something off the pile, but I don't think it's for me.  I will say that I'm still on the fence about whether of not I should have bit the bullet and invested in 15mm Sci-Fi back in the day.

PROJECT: 350 -  Considering I was in the 490s this time last year, and the 520s in the early days of COVID, I should be satisfied staying at 457 (303/154) from 457 (305/152) a week ago.  While I did start to catch up with my Star War d6 campaign's backlog, every episode I finish isn't scheduled to post until October, plus I've been forced to split episodes up for continuity sake.  I still have seven episodes to write up, and if I can play a game, or finish painting project, I might go below 300 drafts for the first time since 2018.

Next: An update on the progress for Season 4 of the Pulp Campaign first, but a certain windfall has thrown off the painting queue even more... and it's Gnomish Space Marine related.

(Painting) Human Mounted Wizard in 15mm by Battle Valor Games

Yes, dear readers, your eyes do not deceive you, nor am I going through another mid-life crisis.  The 15mm in the title is correct.

Human Mounted Wizard

I pledged to Battle Valor Games' 15mm Baggage Trains, Wagons, Camps, Accessories and More! Kickstarter in the spring.  Not because I wanted to expanded into 15mm, rather a formal pledge level got you access Battle Valor's entire back catalog of figures, 15 and 25mm at a substantial discount.  A perfect time for me to get more of their Space Dwarfs and venture further out with the rest of their sci-fi line.

I figured I'd pledge a decent level and kick in the rest when the pledge manager was ready.  Of course that netted me free swag as certain stretch goals were reached, hence my new collection of figures slightly smaller than usual.

I managed to finish up the Human Mounted Wizard with only one minor problem.  I didn't have any bases to match up with Battle Valor rule set, so a large circular base it is!

And for the last few days of August, this figure is also free to all Battle Valor Games orders of $50 or more!

PROJECT 350:  The plan was to keep Project 350 on hiatus until #RPGaDay2021 was complete.  I also didn't plan on getting any painting done for August, but here we are.  With less than a week to go for #RPGaDay, I'm at 497 (314 drafts and 183 scheduled posts) from 486 (317/169) back in July.

Next: A few more of my 15mm spoils are almost complete, as well as a trip to Transnistria
