A Sunflower Grows in Brooklyn... or Northeast Pennsylvania

I'm not going to admit I picked my apartment for the granite countertops or high security features.  It was a quirky place that fit all my immediate needs.  The parking lot is gravel, the gutters need to be cleaned, and I still can't use my porch to enjoy the evenings when it's not a heat wave.

But over the last few weeks, the the knee-high weeds that affected the other tenants got knocked knocked, other weeds in the sidewalk appear to have been killed by chemicals, and one morning, THIS appeared  next to my neighbors porch.

This could be a lost-lost ancestor of Sonny Helianthus, asking for my Gamma World blessing.  Or perhaps their planning their revenge, should Sonny perish in new adventure.  It has not asked me for ancients texts or technologies quite yet.
