(Painting) G1 Facility Nightmares for Legions of Steel

We're just about finished with everything for Historicon.  I did go through all the bins, looking for some interesting figures/objectives for our Fistful of Lead sci-fi and western games, and I may have changed the narrative on our Defense of Carf game on Friday.

We're a little Star Wars-heavy, so I cracked open the bin that houses all my Legions of Steel figures.  I now have a couple options for the second session, if things get too ugly in the first.  But I first uncovered an easy palette cleanser:  eight of the basic G1 Nightmares.

I call these guys "facility" Nightmares due to their square bases.  Minis for the original boxed came with square bases to look better on tiles the game was played on.  When the next wave of minis began coming out, with the emphasis on the Planetstorm outside rules, the next wave of figures all had round bases.

Unless you wish to go with an elaborate backstory, the Nightmares might be the simplest paint job ever, basic Terminator-inspired metallic, with a few dashes of color for eyes and general appeal.

For Fistful of Lead, the Deadbolt Launchers would be an anomaly:  probably looking at a 6+ base short range with d8 henchmen dice, but that short range is ridiculous.  One Nightmare in LoS could pin down traditional UNE Commandoes, four or five concentrating fire in a town from a distance?  That creates a problem.  We'll see how I adapt them into the game.

In the Queue:  Still have three pieces of terrain for Carf to finish up, two pieces of terrain for Samoa (yes Samoa!), some Mouslings, and some Gnomish Space Marine non-con stuff. Pretty much random groupings of minis are left on the bench.

Project 350: Finally!  We have movement!  461 (286 drafts/175 scheduled), a big drop from 469  (295 /174) last week.  #RPGaDay is just a couple of weeks away, and there's not much I'm pulling off the drafts, ideas, and inspiration until I take a break with this until September.  Even the Gamma World Actual Plays go on hiatus for August, so I anticipate a backlog for September to finish my October-September gaming cycle.
