I thought this might be a nice, simple month. October pre-orders are usually a lull, some post-GenCon catch-up, but nothing yet holiday oriented yet (and much too late for Halloween).
I thought with my positive attitude to try Armypainter's Speedpaint Markers, with the thought of investing in them for the imaginary store, I was going to be open minded.
And then I get smacked with two brand new RPGs with the "Stretch Goal" assortment of everything you could possibly need for your game (allegedly). Forged in the heyday of Kickstarter, the rulebook, multiple hardcover supplements, multiple adventures starter kits, dice, maps, and minis is a great deal when you pledge, but the goals are designed to make enough of each item cost-effective after fulfillment (or at least the smart companies do that). Hey if you're interested in an RPG on Brandan Sanderson's The Stormlight Archive series, I've listed the Cosmere RPG HC ($59.99), which isn't a big investment for a copy or two, but without some enthusiasm from my imaginary customer base, it's $360 for one of each item solicited
And if you want horror role-playing, there's The Crooked Moon RPG, which is $69.99 for the core book (which is pricey for something fairly generic sounding), but getting everything on the solicitation, save the deluxe items, would be $430 retail.
And don't get me started on the Deep Rock Galactic boardgame... which doesn't even have pricing on its products.

I am amused that the solicitations for Hasbro have these interspersed with Twister and Monopoly. Even more amused that Alliance's warehouse codes for all the Hasbro items start with WOC (Wizards of the Coast).

Worst sin of all? The solicitation descriptions in the book are reversed, but I honestly could barely tell the difference. Possibly the most underwhelming things WotC has produced in a long time. They do come with dice, though!
