Day 17 of #RPGaDay and the prompt of the day is "Renew."
Out of all the prompts this month that I needed to dedicate extra time to, or deferred to my players for advice, "Renew" gave me the most trouble.
I did have a rough topic, still buried in this post, but then I realized late in the game it would be smarter to on NEXT year's RPG resolutions.
For the last decade , #RPGaDay in August is pretty much the end of my blogging year. I've always kept track of my gaming... and blogging like the Federal government, running from October through September of the next year. Wouldn't know how to stop doing that if I wanted to.
Couple that with over a decade of working with Medicare insurance so by the time, I’m tidying up my last posts for this, I'm entirely focused on the Annual Enrollment Period.
And while I have a tremendous amount miniatures painting and wargaming material to plan for 2025-26, I normally mention my RPG goals during this, so why break an annual tradition?
Gamma World: The second straight campaign to go over 100 sessions. The current storyline could go on hundreds of sessions more, or could get wrapped up nicely before summer ends. Even if we had a TPK, there’s a whole host of concepts we could used for a reboot in the area, so I’ve barely scratched the surface

DAMNIT: I’ve already covered this, space dwarves, exploring space dungeons, in space. I’ll lightly file off some of the serial numbers to make it fit more into my Gnomish Space Marine wargaming world but it's perfect for our Roll20 environment.
Star Wars d6: Fun fact, I started the Gamma World game as a palate cleanser. We’ve done 100 episodes of Star Wars stuff, but it was getting weird(er) and it was good as good as time as any take a step back and recalibrate.
Tapping the 'Zine Haul: I've tried to be a participant in 'ZineQuest for years, and to make things sweeter, the FLGS just down the street from my mother's has one of the finer 'zine collections I've seen in person. Some are overpriced, or not up my alley, but I make sure when I visit her to cut the grass and landscape, I swing by to see what's new.
That being said, I have a nice collection of them, plus the Ultimate Micro RPG book that need to be put to use, whether in person or online is the better format for each one.
Skirmish campaigns: Alright, I lied. Our narratives after a weekend full of events at a wargaming convention are better than some RPG campaigns, so I throw this out there.
The Egypt Game: I've done pulp games with the girls for the past decade, since my eldest was 6. Season 4 of the campaign kicked off with a bang for the old characters, and some new crews will ply their trade using Pulp Alley's Tomb of the Serpent. Despite a chance for a clean conversion to Pulp Alley, or even Fistful of Lead, I'll probably stick with Savage Worlds/Showdown for muscle memory.
Rory's Story Cubes/Brutal Quest: I’ve seen a few references to Rory’s story cubes setting up some of the narrative skirmish games, Brutal Quest in particular. Any excuse to do this with solo play potential, is a great reason to break out some of the fantasy figures , both traditional and the Reaper mouslings, sounds like something awesome to do.
Hackmaster: My big Hackmaster campaign ended in 2004. I cannot tell you without looking at the laments from the last decade of #RPGaDay just how long I’ve been pondering restarting that game, tying up some loose ends. If this one even gets started, much yet reach a conclusion, I might die a happy man. I need at least another two or three of the original players say they’re in to dedicate one Saturday or Sunday a month plus maybe a couple hours during the week just to get things started up.
Call of Cthulhu: Not as bad, but it's been eight years since we wrapped up Masks of Nylarathotep within the greater campaign we were playing. I mentioned it on previous prompts this month but as a man who has a sizable shelf of product as well, I might be closer at getting this group to restart, in New York, possibly move up to Arkham for one of the “ other” Chaosium campaigns.
