So Much Completed, But Nothing Finished

So, with work filling my already busy work from home schedule with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for this week and the bombshell that I won't be back in the office until September, it hasn't been a big week for the gaming table or the painting bench. 

That doesn't mean I haven't hit some goals. 

The Lost Dispatches of Feraso is finally completed!  One hundred posts even is result of expanding old gaming stories, and tying up from campaign plot holes that perhaps only I have seen.  Lost Dispatches will wrap up in October, and Adventures in Gulluvia with start in it's Tuesday place.  They're all caught up and scheduled to post, thank God.

With those in the way, and not wanting multiple Actual Plays and multiple days of the week, I won't be presenting anything from the month old Star Wars d6 until May 2021.  May 4th, 2021 to be exact.

I finished Episodes #2 and #3 this week, with #4 and #5 works in progress.  I am recording each episode as it occurs, but I need two hours to listen and fill in the little details I love. 

I'm getting more comfortable the more I remember from d6, and the two hours we play online is perfect for a Saturday morning movie serial feel (which is part of George Lucas' original inspiration for Star Wars anyway.  I've learned two things.  (1) There is a lot more material for Star Wars online that there was during the dial-up era (obviously).  It's a blessing and a curse.  (2) Wookies are a pain in the butt to even injure, but when you do, they stand up to adversity like a wet noodle.

Stuck at my house, with no places to go, and stimulus money just sitting in my bank account, I cleared up the pledge managers for all Kickstarters I could.

Legions of Steel: paid in full. The smaller base set, plus one each of the "variant weapon" Nightmares with a t-shirt for good measure. Raybox is also throwing in a new G-12 Nightmare with your order at no additional cost.

(Kickstarter) Dragon Lords 3rd Wave by Mirlton Fantasy

Mirlton Miniatures has launched another Kickstarter for their re-release of some of the classic Grenadier Miniatures boxed sets.

Dragons Lords 3rd Wave covers the following old boxes sets

• 2008 - Thieves Den
• DD2010 - Denizens of the Swamp
• 2011 - Orcs of the Severed Hand
• DD2011 - Orc's Lair 
• 5004 - Tomb of Spells

The boxed set generally are $40 apiece (Tomb of Spells is $77).  Compared to the other campaigns, that's not too bad.  Shipping and Handling looks be killer for folks in the States (but very EU friendly).  US/Canada orders start at $15 and anything over 2kg is almost fifty bucks (US) for shipping.

Like prior ones, I'll sit this one out, and if the campaign in successful, I'll find the product at their American distributors.

(Kickstarter) Lucky Ducks in a Row - Rubber Duckie Dice Set

The Evergreen Burrow has launched their first Kickstarter for Lucky Ducks in a Row - Rubber Duckie Dice Set

These are oversized dice with rubber duckies inside (the d4 is a duck imprint and webbed feet instead of numbers.)

They aren't cheap, between the extra size and the ducks, a set of seven dice starts at the $25 pledge level. 

First-day pledges were rewarded with a Rubber Duckie token.  I myself would be more interested in buying these in "bulk."

Lost Dispatches of Feraso #79 - The Witch's Bidding

12th of HepDec 1051 - Village of Eding, Kingdom of Crosedes
It has finally been confirmed that the magic-user Cesmir has not been murdered by the Goblins scouting parties out of Nightwood Forest. 

Regular merchants have confirmed seeing him heading towards Hydincal.   The Magic Lyceum is still a good guess for the destination.  I still have not gotten confirmation that his increasingly scaly skin condition had anything to do with his departure, but the falsehoods of the goblin assassination may disprove that his skin had been getting damaged from the Sun, and he was searching for the darkness of the Nightwood to soothe his body.  With the departure of Zoog months ago, it only leaves one "Hero of Eding": Little Iris.  She's incredibly helpful, very cheerful, and smart enough to scout out the goblin and lizardman threats instead of a full-confrontation, but I'm shocked no one else stands up for the safety of the village!  I do what I can, but younger bulls like Caton should be leading the defense of the mission.

27th of SexDec 1051 - Village of Eding
Now, even as a young girl, I considered Iris a lady, now I must address her as Lady Iris.  Today was the ceremony for Iris to become a Red Knight of Crosdes.  I believe the town was as shocked as she was by the announcement by Lord Athelstane.  As effectively the Lady Protector of the Realm, she should be working closely with Athelstane, but their personalities seem to mix as well as oil and water.

In a follow-up to the ceremony, Lady Iris was promoted to Lieutenant of the Village Militia.

2nd of OctDec 1052 - Village of Eding, Kingdom of Crosedes
Very early this morning, I was awoken by a rapping on my cottage door.  I stumbled through my door and found a worried Caton on my step.  He begged me to put on some traveling clothes and my sword...

... and two shovels.....

We waded across the hip-deep freezing waters of the Hydincall River.  Caton scaled a steep, but well-known hill and as I reached the top. I found in front of the door for the witch's hut!   He put a single finger against his lips to quiet me, then motioned for me to follow him in.

Inside, the interior of the hut was quite spacious compared to the ramshackle interior.  There were two large fireplaces, shelves of books, tomes, reagents, spices, and equipment.

And a small couch is an obviously dying woman. "This is Ferula Bloodgood, she has played the role of the witch in Eding for the last 22 years.  She's dying and there's nothing we can do for her."

I am gobsmacked to learn that not only was the all-powerful witch a middle-aged woman with a loud voice, a skill in disguise, and the ability to follow recipes to create concoctions, but the idea that Caton has been helping her all this time seems very convenient... and trendy.

Considering Caton a friend, we buried the body on an old abandoned manor graveyard, and I got back to my cottage without anyone even missing me.

Just a series of social media accounts, the Inquirer covers miniatures, wargaming, and a whole lot of 40k, in the flavor of the The Onion.  

It brings a little warmth to my heart, but not enough raise my body temperature and be forced to self-quarantine.
