"The Merovingian Hack takes a fantastical, adventurous approach to the 6th century in Western Europe, a time of climate calamity, plague, conquest, social change, and religious consolidation. It was a time when the west was trying to figure out just who it was, taking inspiration from its tribal and Roman roots under the burgeoning influence of the Catholic church. In this world your characters can take on many roles with the help of your referee, the impartial arbiter of the action at hand. Politic with the nobles, fight with a warband, move goods as a trader, or try to get rich off the many hoards and ruins dotting the land."
