Hann Townsfolk from Alternative Armies

Any fan of Gnome Wars will admit that there are still some holes in the various nationalities offered in the rules.  Sure, you can paint up Swiss a certain way to be the Slovak Legion, or cut off the pickelhaube off the Germans to make Bulgarians, but certain nationalities should have their own specific figures.

One such nationality missing are the Chinese.  I was shocked to learn that it was exactly a decade ago that I brought up this issue on the blog, and started pondering using Japanese in their stead

As a Gnome Wars purist, I would recommend either the Japanese option, or the use of Swiss as generic Chinese conscripts, with some Asian style and flair on the paint job.

If you're a no-holds barred type that appreciates Teddy Bears, Frogs, Turtles, and Ducks mixed in with Gnomekind, then I recommend looking over at Alternative Armies.

Obviously, Alternative Armies is known for their fantasy and anthropomorphic animal races in Flintloque and Slaughterloo.  One of their more recent development that has completely slipped under my radar has been Frontear, their "Wylde West" periods.  I'm already amused that their natives are wolverines called Logann, but they've recently released a new race to represent the Asian immigrants escaping the East for a new life: The Hann
7119 - Hann Towsfolk

From their announcement, paraphrased for clarity.
Leaving the Mandryn-owned kingdoms, the underclass race known as the Hann came to Amerka, to Kitton, and some even to Urop, to escape tyranny. They had great difficulty in communicating and understanding the ways of these less Wylde Magicke nations, but they strove to be accepted, and in time they found work and places to dwell. In Amerka, it is in the great towns of Kalifoornia and the Aridzona vastness too. Often a law unto themselves, the Chigtowns within cities like Sanfransiroc are ruled by Hann gangs. The Hann will put up with almost anything to avoid returning to the Dragons of the Mandyrn.

This pack contains five 28mm scale metal miniatures. The Hann are an insectile fantasy race with an Oriental theme. Each Hann has four arms, and is dressed in baggy trousers and tunics. The poses are Hann Merchant or Shopkeeper arms folded (1), Hann enforcer or Tong Executioner with swords (2), Hann railroad or manual worker with tool (3), Hann Miner with Pick (4), and Hann laborer with baskets (separate piece) (5). You have the option of purchasing a pack, or choosing single poses in any quantity from the pack, all on the page.

In addition, the new Hann are standing around the Case of Shotte terrain piece, which is free in every shipped order this month(February 2021) automatically.

There are no rules yet in AA's World of Valor setting, as the pandemic has prevented proper playtesting, but I hope for an expansion of the figures, not only for the Wylde West, but proper foot soldiers for a Colonial setting.  An Order of Harmonious Fists might be a greater threat if your members all have four arms!
