29 Mai 534 - Swam'Pas Manor, Barony of Gulluvia
Our heroes, hedge wizard Hugo Swam'Pas, halfling Beula Cragmuffin, beastly warrior Slothina Hoppler, and acolyte with a war-torn past Friar Barry Manaslow, had returned from the swamp with the manor's trusted bodyguard Ascink Eukeaverk, as well as the body of Hugo's father, Lord Richard Swam'Pas himself.
Lady Hollatta rewarded everyone graciously and gave her husband's family signet ring, a Ring of Fire Resistance to Hugo.
For three days, our heroes stayed at Manaslow, some recovering from woods, some helping rebuild the estate. Perhaps the most remarkable part of their stay was Slothina returning from a walk with seven wild cattle in tow. The were quickly penned up and were a welcome replacement for the livestock slain by the lizardmen.
30 Mai 534 - The Village of Mere, Barony of Gulluvia
After a well-deserve rest, the group bid farewell to Lady Hollatta and Ascink and were ready to return Mere for the wrath of the Baronial Guard. They arrived back in the village by mid-afternoon and found things largely returned to normal. The Baronial Guard had left the day after the heroes had left for their half-day patrol!
For Friar Barry and Slothina, their returns were eerily identical. Both went back to their homes. Both were chastised by their fathers, Father Joseph for Barry and Ned Hoppler for Slothina. And both were sent to their rooms without supper.
Hugo was still processing everything that transpired and took a long walk to clear his mind, only taking a moment to refill his waterskins at his home.
Beulah was the only one to venture into the Elle's Leaping Strong Moon. The other customers were astonished to see her walking through the door, and it was quickly relayed to her that the Baronial Guard was upset and looking for all of them, although the townsfolk didn't seem to eager to send a messenger to alert them of their return.
After Beulah's return was resolved the main attention turned back to a new person in town. A towering (6'2") specimen of a woman was leaning against the bar, two flagons of ale her side.
The patrons seemed scared of the woman, or perhaps she had already made them feel her wrath. Regardless, Beulah was three drinks into the evening before wandering up to the bar.
Buy you a drink, stranger?
The woman stared down at the small halfling, "No, my little friend, you can buy me two more ales!"
Beulah obliged and stories were shared.
Her name was Carya, a daughter of a merchant in Gulluvia City. She had overseen a special delivery of chickens that had been recently slaughtered at Farmer Tomas' barn. She had already sent back the teamster and one caravan guard and was inquiring about any unique opportunities in Mere.
Beulah did not attempt to oversell the group, but their tales intrigued the powerful woman. Drinking continued in the late hours, until Hugo arrived. Something had made him look concerned as he walked through the doors, but the regulars immediately chastised him for pissing off the Baronial Guard. After that, he had to encounter the beautiful Carya, and whatever his frantic purpose was immediately forgotten.

Hugo awoke in his own home, to a knocking on the shutters, upon opening, he met face to face with a dead chicken. The chicken was attached to a kobold holding it, the same lone kobold Hugo had seen at the caravan attack and inside the the Temple of Zoltar. He was quite frantic and that forced Hugo to fetch the others, including Carya.
It was a wise move, as Carya spoke kobold and could interpret for everyone.
According to the kobold "Pogart," right after the heroes had left on patrol, the Baronial Guard immediately went into the hills, found the temple and slaughtered every other kobold in there.
Hugo was resigned to the fact that they needed to use his home to hide the kobold before things got worse.
And since it wasn't Waffle Day to distract Slothina, an adventure was in order!

Pogart, dressed in what all the cool (and dead) kobolds were wearing.... cause he looted the bodies before he escaped. |
Hugo was resigned to the fact that they needed to use his home to hide the kobold before things got worse.
