The Unofficial Painting Guide to Gnome America

After the American Uncivil War of 1836 and the Great 19th Century Expansion of Gnome America, I figured it would be a good idea to compile these new countries plus what figures and color schemes to use.

Rule 0 of the Gazetteer:  Regardless of the ethnicity of the country, Swiss gnomes are acceptable "default" figures for militia units.  Consider the Swiss pointed hat as a culturally acceptable fashion the whole world over.

Any suggestions and revisions are welcome.  Please let me know!

(Painting) Mice and Sacred Cows

Miscellaneous stuff keeps flying off the bench... some of it actually painted.

Two more mice people finished before the deluge from Reaper Bones 3 shows up in the Spring.

The one on the left is from the Mousling Tavern from Reaper, while the right is another random Mice Warrior from Eureka.

I whipped up a shaky bridge with popsicle and craft sticks.  It worked well in the season two premiere of the Pulp Game, and has inspired me to assemble a few driftwood rafts for later on.
I also got two more objective markers made up for the next pulp game.  The great jade relic of Hathor.  Yes, I'll have an objective that's a sacred cow.  The other is the revised Jamar D'hai (The Gem of Chance).  Both made their debut in the above mentioned season debut.
NEXT:  German Riflemen for Gnome Wars are finished.  Blue Martians, Arab Revolt figures,  Ganesha Miniatures halflings, and of course, more Mouslings.

PETA to Publish Its Own Miniatures Rules

After the tempest in the teapot about PETA Demanding that GW Remove Fur From 40K Minis, I was only slightly amused that a rumor seeped through the internet that PETA had decided to design its own miniatures rules.

Upon this little thing called three minutes of research, I realized that Cocked Dice, the initial source of the rumor, is a wargaming parody site, the Onion of 40k, if you will.

But that begs the question, what would a fur free PETA game be?  Would it be a fur-FULL game, like this cat game from one of the HMGS (East) cons?

There were also the famed rubber duck games from earlier Mepacons.  Three locations ago, the Holiday Inn at Dunmore had an odd tiered fountain in an open-air part of the hotel.  Someone would run a mid-afternoon kid's game using dozens of different rubber ducks.  No physical violence and lots of cooperation, although I think the Hollywood Starlet duck had a mink stole molded onto her.

Let's not forget the different snowball fight rules available.   This is PETA, however, and if they realize that animated snowmen are in some of the rules, they may want to ban snow.

Any other ideas?

I would be down with some kickass Greenpeace Rainbow Warrior naval rules.

PETA Demands Games Workshop Remove Fur From Their Minis...

So, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals UK recently sent a letter to Games Workshop, asking the company from removing furs from its Warhammer 40K game.

Directly from their blog:  "Indeed, nothing on the bloody battlefields of Warhammer’s conflict-ravaged universe could match the terrible reality that foxes, minks, rabbits, and other living beings experience at the hands of the fur trade. Those killed for their fur typically first endure a bleak life inside a tiny, filthy wire cage before being electrocuted, drowned, or even skinned alive. Or they may be in the wild, minding their own business, when they get caught in a horrific bone-crushing steel-jaw trap – often languishing for days before eventually dying from starvation, dehydration, or blood loss."

Obviously PETA should start a campaign to Save the Tyranids, the fluffy little critters that they are:
